It all started in the year 2000 with the convergence of youth, students and citizen volunteers in Kukkarahally lake at Mysuru, India. The purpose was to clean the lake by collecting waste in the foreshore every Sunday.

A jatha (rally) was taken out from Ramaswamy Circle and campaign was  for plastic abuse free city through 100 ft Sayyaji  Rao road and Devaraj Urs road and culminated at DC office. Over 200 Manasagangorti  school students prepared posters in just two days and participated.

Pamphlets on plastic abuse control were given to shops. Professors along with volunteers  picked plastic waste on the road and drains.

A street play ’Plastic Demon’  , concept by PSF  Convenor, .Jagannatha was played by the PSF volunteers. The community eco literacy  on the lake shore reached the city. As on March, 2019, the Sunday weekend community eco literacy  campaign has crossed 438th week

Empowering Individuals and Community are the primary aim of  PSF.  PSF affirms that Scientific Commitment and Scientific Temperament  are vital capability for any Issues such as Pandemic and disasters.   Issues such as conservation and management of lakes, plastic abuse free city, environmentally Sound Technology such as trees to improve soil moisture , drains as recharge points, community empowerment for sustainability and disaster management are some of the areas PSF has been working on since 2000. It is a voluntary, Cost Free and now totally virtual.
